I always thought that making videos was hard in general. Usually because the softwares required high performance computers (which I never had icon biggrin Rob Eckert Moize Opel OpelM Gourmandhast Blud Shot ) and a good video always required a decent camera. When I saw the work of Rob Eckert I wasn’t believing my eyes! This man has created videos like those cool scenes you would find in video games and all those crazy commercials on TV with moving graphics rushing left and right on the screen. I feel lucky to have Rob’s interview on my site as such talent is truly my source of inspiration.

What made you start designing and motion graphics?
I started doing motion graphics after I graduated from college with a BA in Sound Engineering. I tried to do the live sound gig for a long time and (not quite making ends meet) eventually I found myself getting offered a full time beginning level video editor for training videos in Orlando FL using early versions of adobe premiere and after effects. Once I found AE I knew there was something extremely amazing about this program and these animated graphics that you could do with it so from then on I was on a mission to learn as much about this as possible.

What inspires you to create art?
My inspiration comes from everything around me at all times. from people to interesting animals or pictures. Film and Technology.

What are some of the biggest challenges in Motion Graphics/Animation?
Some big challenges in the motion graphics industry are the ever increasing deadlines (this is mostly true for the advertising side)… or recognizing the trends that the technology is taking. what software or tool is the best for the task at hand and knowing why and for what its best used for… and then how to use it…

Who are your favorite artists?
My favorite artist is HR Giger, (of course) Damian Hurst… Sal Bass i love, eh these are just some that poped into my head…

How does your environment influence your art?
The environment one of the biggest influences for any artist is feel… nature is the best designer/ Artist and my goal is to learn from the best so I go to mother nature first.

I noticed you had a lot of car projects. What attracts you towards the automotive industry?
Ha I never really wanted to get in to automotive advertising!! I got lucky I guess… When i was in Orlando (well after the video editing job fell apart and I was banging on every door i could to try to get into the advertising business)
I had some friends in Detroit MI that were doing really cool things with the interactive world and I sent my very first demo reel to them and they got back to me with an interview for a motion design position at a post production company called Ringside Creative… an incredible company that had lots of stuff going on with the car industry in Detroit so I started doing car commercials icon smile Rob Eckert Moize Opel OpelM Gourmandhast Blud Shot Now I have moved to New York City where I work for a number of different really amazing companies that do a number of interesting projects from music videos to even more car spots icon smile Rob Eckert Moize Opel OpelM Gourmandhast Blud Shot

Where is the one place in the world you would love to visit?
Right now I would love to go to Rome or Barcelona Spain…

What advice would you give to an artist just starting out?
Learn as much as you can about the tools to stay on top of the digital trends. pay attention to nature to develop good balance in your compositions… and look for every way creatively that you can express yourself and you will truly have alot of fun in Motion Graphics…
